Black Friday deals

Postby Docjon » Mon Nov 16, 2015 8:30 pm

Word is that Best Buy will have the Logitech g502 Proteus Core mouse on sale for $40. If you're in the market for a mouse, that one is well-regarded, so you might want to look into it.

Best Buy is also said to have the Logitech g910 Orion Spark keyboard on sale for $90. Nice price for a mechanical keyboard that has independently-controlled RGB LED keylights. Even cheaper than the $99 Dell is selling it for on Black Friday.

In fact, all Logitech gadgets will be on sale for half-off full retail price.

I admit I may get the g910 Orion Spark keyboard after all myself for that price. The K70/95 were on my radar but damn, $90, half of the K70, is a good deal even if it only lasts a few years.

Whoa now, it's not like you're buying some off-brand POS. Logitech has served us both well over the years. The Corsairs seem fairly sweet and overly-well-constructed, but c'mon, when's the last time you had to bash someone in the head with your keyboard? Must be going on ten years now. The keyboard SITS there, and you type on it. The aluminum housing would be cool, but it's not really NEEDED. In all likelyhood, the Orion will last as long or longer than the Corsair, based on our past experiences with Logitech. In fact, one of the Corsair models (I forget which) that has mechanical keys and WHITE backlit keys has a reputation for LEDs going out soon and often. The RGB's seem OK though.

They're even coming out with an alternate keyset for the Orion. The new ones will have the same feel as standard keys, in case you really can't get used to the new-style keycaps they come with. It really shouldn't be an issue, especially for you, since you hardly do anything at all with your gaming PC BUT game. A little pricey, but maybe it will go down or go on sale. Nice to have the option anyway, tho I don't plan on using it.

Dude I know man. Remember previous conversations we had. you know I LOVE Logitech gear. That is what I have owned and used for a very long time. My mice have always been Logitech for as long as they have been around. I cannot remember the last time I used a non Logitech mouse as my primary. I can say the same for keyboards. If you remember I originally wanted the Orion keyboard.

I looked at the Corsairs and they just looked kind of boring and generic. They are GREAT keyboards though. You guys steered me towards them. i :) i
I started moving towards those as I do like the solid construction and more "standard" mechanical keys etc... I still think they are kind of generic looking aside from the color controlled keys. Still it is functionality that matters in the end so I was good with it.

So I could easily really enjoy one of those K70/95's but I also think I will be fine with an Orion one as well, especially since that was the original one I was looking at and did find a lot to like about it. i :) i

My MAIN worry with this keyboard is those weird keys, how well will they work for normal typing? Also not a fan of that wrist rest.

What I am saying is I like anything that works well. i :) i

FUCK! A LITTLE pricey?? $40 for key caps????? That is INSANE!!!!! That is half the price of the keyboard on sale. Damn!!! I won't even be considering those until they go under $20.

Well that is certainly untrue. I don't have a gaming PC. I use my main PC as well my MAIN PC, which I happen to use for gaming. I only have one desktop PC that I do anything on*. I do everything on that one PC man... Video editing, Special VFX, gaming, music mixing, all the usual stuff... I don't always use it every day admittedly, depending on what is going on, but when I do I use it a lot! It is my MAIN PC!!!!!

That is why it is hard for me to rebuild it. I have EVERYTHING installed on that thing. This is why I cannot run a 256 or 512 GB SSD on it. I have too much installed, I use it for more than just gaming and web browsing like most of you guys. It is my main box man. Tons of shit on there.

*My only other desktop is my HTPC but I only use that for usenet and TV/movie watching.

Aren't you using the same one I'm using, the g700s?

The g502 is VERY WELL thought of. Supposed to have a great sensor. If my mouse died today, It would be in the lead to be my next mouse. It doesn't have a tilt-wheel, though, which is 2 less forms of input. Only knock I have on it.

Seriously? You cannot nudge the mouse wheel left and right? F that.. That is a feature I use all of the time. That and that horrible non rubber surfaced smooth/crappy scroll wheel = not for me.

I was thinking of getting one and could live with the scroll surface but not having the ability to nudge the wheel is not something I can forgive, especially on a supposedly top end mouse.

I didn't even notice that as I assumed a top of the line mouse would just have that.

Thanks man.. i :) i

Uh, disregard my previous statement. After double-checking, it DOES have a tilt-wheel. I must have been thinking of another mouse.
