View the latest post 500 Million PWND Passwords

Depends on the link you follow. The one I listed pulls your exact password and how many know instances of it exist. The one talked about in Ars will pull ALL passwords from tye list that have the same first five letters.

Example Enter - ABCDE and you get all passwords that start with ABCDE on the list. You can then see if your full password matches any that are returned.

The argument that they need to do it to make any money goes out the window when the sales alone make over a billion in profits. Before microtransactions. I really feel there is no place for them in a full priced AAA title.

Buggy Malwarebytes protection update wreaks havoc for users.

I had a fun day today having to go around to all my PC's and uninstalling Malwarebytes because my users lost internet access.
It had a bad update that caused false positives and started popping up messages blocking "suspicious" sites etc...My laptop at home experienced this as well. Drove me crazy.

Good news is it has already been patched so uninstall and reinstall will fix it. I will reinstall it at work for everyone soon.

View the latest post Major flaw in Intel Management Engine.

Effecting 5th generation in newer Intel chips including Xeon and Atom as well Core-i series. In a nutshell, it allows undetectable by OS access to the machine. So, you can get in and manipulate the machine and have direct access to memory all below the OS and totally invisible to the user.

The sad reality is even if patched by Intel it will require all OEM companies to mush BIOS updates. And then those updates need to be pushed to clients by system admins. Basically, this flaw will never get fixed for the most part in the real world. Leaving millions of exposed systems.
